About Us

Gaon Vikas Manch

We belive in inclusivity and grassroot level development to make rural poor healthy, skilled, educated and economically independent.

Gaon Vikas Manch is a non-profit organization founded on the auspicious date of October 2, 2000, by a devoted group of people. The Manch has always been instrumental in translating into reality the dreams of Gram Swaraj of Gandhi, Fawra(Spade) of Lohiya and Sampoorn Kranti of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan. So that a society may be formed where nobody remains Hunger, Jobless, illiterate or a victim of exploitation. From its very beginning, the organization has been trying to organize the poor, backward, women, and other weaker sections of rural areas and make them educated, conscious, and sensitive. The Manch’s attention is focused more on the unreached, untouched, and unprivileged section to join them in the mainstream of society and to arouse interest in the work of development so that rural change may be visible in the neglected section and they may have access to grass roots democratic institutions, health services, education, skills, and means of livelihood. This Manch believes in the participation of the community.

Our focus areas

An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society

Mission & Vision

OUR VISION

Gaon Vikas Manch envisions a society where individual and collective efforts converge for integrated development, ensuring better conditions for all, especially the disadvantaged and vulnerable sections.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to capacitate, empower women, and uplift the poor, enabling them to advocate for their rights and achieve self-empowerment through education, health, natural resource management, and livelihood improvement initiatives. Additionally, we strive to enhance living opportunities and provide essential amenities for the masses living in flood-prone and waterlogged areas.

Our Programs

Humanitarian Support for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

With the participation of all stakeholders, including the community, concerned government departments, international support agencies, and other CSOs (Central Statistics Office) and CBOs (community based organizations) at all three stages, the humanitarian approach of our organization directs the preparation and mitigation measures to minimize the loss resulting from the flood disaster.

Natural Resource Management

GVM has a rich experience in natural resource management and livelihood. We formed farmer clubs and Kisan cooperatives and trained and supported them with capital, high yielding varieties of seeds, that grow in less time, bioorganic fertilizers, and relevant training to start agriculture. All these efforts have produced more food grains to feed them. The organization has developed packages and practices context specific to promote livelihood in flood affected areas, like the introduction of early varieties, the introduction of short term crops like NDR-97, Bhawani mustard, breeders’ varieties of seeds, and vegetable cultivation. The organization has promoted SRI techniques of paddy cultivation and SWI techniques of wheat cultivation. Both techniques require less time, less manpower, and less time to produce agricultural crops. GVM organizes an Environment Awareness Campaign every year with local support.

Health Program

A major transformation could be achieved by organizing training & orientation. GVM also facilitates family planning programs among marginalised communities.

Education Program

In order to keep track of children's education, Gaon Vikas Manch has established a non-formal education center called Bridge Course Centers & Child Labor School for Child Labor and tries to streamline it by liaising with the government. As Gaon Vikas Manch observed, the age appropriate performance of the children as per their class is very poor, so a bridge course is the only means to improve quality education. The organization organizes awareness sensitization, enrolment drives for the children, and community participation is encouraged through strengthening the village education committee as well as children’s groups.

Women Empowerment

GVM has a separate cell to promote gender equity, women empowerment and strengthen women SHGs. These SHGs are capacitated through trainings on accounts keeping, saving and credit, women leadership etc. After getting desired level of maturity these SHGs are linked to banks and other institutes for micro enterprise and encouraged to start business. GVM has Sexual Harassment Complaint Committee to let women staffs feel safe and comfortable at workplace.

Addressing Child Marriage By Empowering Adolescent Girl

GVM organizes Life Skill training on Health, Education, Nutrition and leadership development. Training on Domestic Violence, Preventing child marriage and Child Protection and their rights. GVM Organize many meetings with block-level and district-level Government officials to empower the adolescents and share their views about child safety.
